A 2013 Cookbook Challenge !

Many moons ago I participated in a Cookbook Challenge.  It involved being given a different theme each week in which we would have to interpret into a recipe cooked from one of our very own cookbooks.  The aim:  To use those hundreds of cookbooks lining our shelves that may have been used once, or in some cases, not at all.

I had a ball!

I still have loads of cookbooks that I've used only once and some haven't been opened since flicking through the pages in the bookshop, so I've made a decision.  To do my very own cookbook challenge.  The new aim:  To help motivate me into opening those cookbooks once again and get back into that damn kitchen.

Hopefully this might also inspire you to get creative in the kitchen.

Stay tuned for Challenge #1!

  1. I really enjoyed the cookbook challenges too. I couldn't quite keep up with the rigour of doing it weekly but when I did choose a recipe it was often one I hadn't made before or a bit more difficult than normal. I enjoyed challenging myself and seeing what other people did.

  2. Are you sure you didn't take that photo at my house? Until I bought and filled the new bookcase last week, those three books are exactly what I had on the top of my pile on the bench seat. Harvest and Margaret Fulton are still on their sides on top of the case. I like the warm colours. xo

  3. Totally agree with you QuincePoacher - I loved seeing what everyone else came up with. I found some of my favourite (regular) recipes from that challenge.

Sprung Sheli - yes, that photo was taken at your place the day of your "vegetarian feast". Haven't had a chance to use until now which I'm very happy about!
